HAVING DEAF CHILDREN HEAR IS A PIPE DREAM!
Whoo! Whoo! I am amused when hearing parents or professionals show their ignorance in deaf issues.
That’s trouble when they have horse blinders on!
They are the ones causing problems.
Knowledge is power!
What the CI users are trying to say are telling truth!
I have seen CI companies sweeping dirt under rugs…and same for one friend who tried to do her research. She contacted Gallaudet University to find out more….the University were unable to reply to her request. It was like snow job or cover up.
Like I said, money talks! It is the greed that engulfs the audists into more greed and more control over the useless technology. It is just plain expensive hearing aids.
It is plain snake oil! Same old practice from the old westerns!
They (audists/doctors/oral programs) are laughing their way to banks for pulling wool over poor parents.
Truth will prevail!
Shame on those liars in this scandal and conspiracy to hurt many poor deaf children!
Having deaf children hear is a pipe dream!
The only one who can perform miracles is the man upstairs! Not any medical profession or any of us!

Looking Back: "TO BE DEAF OR NOT TO BE DEAF"
I remember a long time ago when I was a young child. There was a confusion about who I was in the hearing world. I knew I was Deaf and will NEVER match up to hearing in terms of communications.
Hearing people are always punishing us for not being equal in terms of oral communications. We always have speech problems no matter how many years of oral training was done.
More or less, it makes no difference. The results are the same. It is that some hearing people are used to the voice and speech problems of the Deaf. Any hearing person not familiar with it will react in negative way. NO matter how hard we try, the results are the same!
A better solution is to write notes to clarify what we were trying to say.
More or less, the results will be the same! Still problematic! Why? 'Cuz some hearing people can't read notes and make excuses NOT to read notes...that is their "hearing" attitude"! The results are the same!!!
It is hearing people's problem for not taking the time nor taking compassionate view...more or less, it is the same!!!
Oh, well! Life is a Beach! If they cannot understand us, it is their frigging problem! Not mine!
To heck with them! We will continue using ASL as it is fun and entertaining to watch sign language.
It is easier to do it than using voices and trying to please hearing people.
More or less! They need to take the time to understand our culture and language.
It is their problem! Not Mine!
Heck! It is only a sign language!

MARDI GRAS FUN AT GSLAD!
The crowd at GSLAD Hall was havng a good time and the party went well!
The participants played games.
Lisa and her son, Connor were having fun! Games, Food and Drinks were plenty!
This is GSLAD's very own jukebox! The hall rocks with music and fun!
NTID AND MONTIDAA HOSTED RECEPTION YESTERDAY
The Missouri Chapter of NTIDAA and NTID hosted a reception at GSLAD Hall yesterday, February 25, 2007. There were 63 people in attendance. Dr. Alan Hurwitz gave a presentation about what NTID is doing these days.
The alumni and friends had a good time socializing yesterday at the GSLAD Hall. There will be 40th reunion next summer (2008) in Rochester, NY.
Dr. Hurwitz was explaining about NTID's progress and its plan for future. NTID and NTIDAA are working together to do more networking to recruit future students, look into fundraising and job placement.We missed Matthew Driscoll, the Director of NTID Alumni Relations as the weather was bad in Chicago that he had to go to another city and wait out. He was kind enough to arrive late. I was happy to meet him and discuss about alumni relations. Carmen Sciandria, the NTIDAA president is motivating the chapters to get ready for the alumni reunion next year.
Congrats to Hurwitzes! Vickie's mother turned 90 last Saturday! =)
WHAT DO WE DO WITH SLCC?
Hello! I am Paul for Show me Deaf Community. I would like to follow up on Amy's anger about SLCC. I woud like to show you that postcard we are discussing about. See those pages of the post card.
It is an elaborate way of getting our attention to give money to buy bricks to build the SLCC. It costs $500.00 for brick also with other prices.
There has been discussions among b/vlogs about it.
Just recently, gallyprotest.org announced that the webpage mentioning SLCC has been shut down.
I wonder if it is the works of Mercy Coogan. She is with public relations.
Why does Gallaudet keep her? She is part of old administration that caused problems.
There is a need for replacement. I could be wrong.
The picture is becoming fuzzy.
Is it part of her campaign to confuse the issue?
I do praise Davilia for Team Gallaudet.
I wonder about this SLCC situation.
I hope Davilia can response to this matter and put it to rest the confusion!

EXPLOSION OF B/V LOGS IN DEAF COMMUNITY
Hello, I am Paul. I make comments for SHOW ME DEAF COMMUNITY. It is a blog and now it is either blog or vlog. There will be some written comments or video commentary. I have been exploring other b/vlogs. I find it wonderful and interesting. Many has popped up since Gallaudet University Protests. Now Deafread.com is a clearing house of information submitted by many bloggers. You can have a choice to read blog or watch vlog. It is a wonderful experience having b/vlogs. See you at next posting.

DOCUMENTARY: "SUICIDE: A LONELY JOURNEY TO THE DARK SIDE"
I am searching for some individuals who has experienced mental health issues in life as well as in any programs. I am devising a video documentary on mental health. It will explore the problems of mental health affecting the Deaf community. It also explores how it affects domestic violence and other abuses.
It is a serious documentary focused on the needs of mental health and the deaf community. Missouri does not have adequate mental health program that meets the needs of deaf community. The documentary will explore some communities in Missouri as well as explore the prison system. There are deaf in prison that do not have adequate support. There are deaf people who have fallen through the cracks in rural areas as well as small towns.
I will respect anyone who prefers to be "anonymous" on my documentary. There will be cameras focused on shadow while signing (not direct on individual) to tell a story of his or her abuses. If an individual is willing to say it all face to face with video camera, it will be great. It will help the public understand the plight conditions and how lack of support sytem affects the mental health in deaf communities.
There were recent deaf suicides that happened in Missouri that gave me a full consideration in increasing awareness by making a documentary. We do need to push buttons to get the system working for the deaf community. There is a need to increase awareness.
I am researching on suicidology and how it affects us. I am looking for survivors and those who are recovered. The documentary is being worked in several phases that will be 3 one-hour videos to educate the public. I plan to interview some professionals in mental health working with deaf.
I have experienced suicide several times and I know what it is like to reach the dark side. I would like this video to empower those who are suffering to speak up and reach out for help. It can help us understand what suicide can do and affect everyone.
Let me borrow this quote from David Webb, Suicide Attempter (and Suicidologist at Victoria University) in his presentation, "THE MANY LANGUAGES OF SUICIDE".
"We need to hear these voices. Most importantly it is needed to empower those who are contemplating suicide to speak up and hopefully reach out for help. Part of the poison of suicidality is the loneliness. When you hear others who truly know suicidality, whether they've recovered or are still struggling, then you are no longer quite so alone in the world. Stories of survival and recovery can sometimes spark a light at the end of the tunnel of hopelessness, another of suicidality's poisons. I was told to hang in there, that the pain would pass which, although true, was not believable at the time. Hearing this from a survivor can help. We need to hear the voice of others to help us find our own voice. Healing and recovery begins with telling your story."
I do have a story to tell as well as others can tell their stories. This is what makes my motivation to pursue this matter on a video that will help the public understand the needs of mental health program for deaf and hard of hearing.
Another quote for this project is "It is the words that suicidal people say - about their psychological pain and their frustrated psychological needs- that make up the essential vocabulary of suicide. Suicide prevention can be everyone's business." Defined by Edwin S. Schneidman as psychological pain arising from frustrated or thwarted psychological needs - a much more accurate and useful term than "depression". From the preface of "THE SUICIDAL MIND" by Ediwn S. Schneidman (Oxford University Press, 1996)
The videotaping project will start sometime in mid-May and hope to complete by August in time for September as part of awareness project for Suicide Prevention Week in September.

I AGREE WITH AMY!
In her recent vlog, she mentioned about the postcard that we all got in mail. This was about to buy bricks for SLLC. I looked at the card. I am leery about this.
Why should we help them? They get 100 million a year? They get millons of dollars from Sorenson and others?
They are trying to "commercialize" Gallaudet?
What is Gallaudet now? It is supposed to be ASL University to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing!
Figure this out!
I am rooting for Amy!
