Deaf people can be audists, I agree. MJ Bienvenu is a perfect example. She is a dysconscious audist. She does not realize it. Gallaudet University has changed her. I hope we have stronger Deaf people in Deaf Studies to spread words about audism as MJ Bienvenu cannot do it because she is blind to her own issues.

What you are describing is colonialism. According to Harlan Lane (The Mask of Benevolence, there is a striking similarity between Africans and the Deaf being colonized and how they were perceived in a negative light. Will vlog about that soon!
It is fascinating when we get to see how colonialism + paternalism = economic gains are the motivation factors for audism to happen. I believe when you refer to hearing people, you are focusing on a group who is responsible of audism.
I don't think Paul intends to refer to all though.
